  • In order to score points in the card game Canasta, players must create melds, or sets & runs, of seven or more cards and place them on the table. The winner of the game is the first person or team to score a certain amount of points after multiple rounds of play. In Canasta, going out refers to the act of a player or team laying all of their cards on the table in melds with no unmatched cards left.
